Pinterest realities!

About 2 months ago, Sarah Flory introduced me to Pinterest! I have been OBSESSED! Pinterest is like an online bulletin board where you can pin inspiring things: recipes, home decor, classroom/teaching ideas, outfits of choice, and so much more.

I have especially loved pinning recipes and craft ideas and have actually followed through in making several things!

Here are some of my recipes that have been pretty successful!
Peach & Blueberry Cobbler!

Lemon Blueberry Cupcakes!

Lasagna Rolls!

...first you make a delicious meat sauce using ground turkey.

...boil your lasagna noodles while you are making the sauce. Lay out the noodles and top with a thin layer of mozzarella cheese and sauce.

...gently roll up the noodles and place in a sauce coated loaf pan. I found that three rolls fit perfectly!

... top with another layer of sauce and mozzarella cheese. Bake at 350* for 20 minutes!

... Enjoy!

Chicken Alfredo Shells!

Mini Whole Wheat Blueberry
Pancakes!

another day in the yard!

Today we spent the later part of the afternoon trimming and ridding the patio of weeds. As renters, there are only so many things that you can do to a yard and a patio.
Our first step to a better patio was to rid it if all of the weeds growing between the bricks. So, we did just that. Next, we sprayed it to prevent the patio from regrowing the ugly , no-good weeds!
Here we have a before and after shot:

And here we are, my groom and I, celebrating our hard work!

Maybe it doesn't look like much, but we trimmed every inch of our fence! I think that we expanded our yard by 10 square feet, just by getting rid if some weeds!

Happy Saturday bloggers!

Tomorrow we have a day PACKED full of things to celebrate:
1. Christ rises from the dead.
2. Brunch with family who live
IN TOWN! (Jill, Russ, &
Addison) So thankful!
3. The Sabers will clench the
first series by 5:00pm.
4. Nate and I get to go see
the Preds clench the first
series of the playoffs and
we will be there to
witness!

Composting makes our world (my kitchen) a better place

I have been composting for about 2 years, thanks to my old roommate, Lucie. It reduces SOOOOO much trash! We also compost in The Purple Room (my classroom). Since Nate and I have moved in together there has not been any form of composting and I have felt a little disappointed in myself. I do not have a gigantic garden that requires composted soil, but I do have a kitchen that would like to smell better.

Today I was inspired, with it being Earth Day and all and I went and bought a ceramic compost bin for our kitchen. o was super excited and even organized under our sink to make an accessible spot for our new bin. When Nate hit home from work and I was telling him about my purchase, I realized that the small bin in the kitchen would be useless without a large bin in the yard. This large bin is the key ingredient on turning our veggie scraps into glorious soil! So, we went to Lowes and bought an outdoor bin for just $49.95. Not too bad!

So, I set the bin up and put it in the back corner of the yard now we just need some "brown" scraps for the bin. Nate and I will not have any problem filling the bin with "green" scraps with the amount of veggies we eat!

Here are out new accessories to our home and our conscious contribution to our environment on Earth Day!

HAPPY EARTH DAY!

Outside on Earth Day!

Today is Earth Day and we spent it outside! Yesterday after work I went to Whole Foods and purchased 5 organic herbs: parsley, basil, thyme, mint, and dill. These were chosen based on the recipes that I cook the most often!

After I finished at Whole Foods, I wandered down the street to Anthropologie! I bought 3 planters for just $66.00. Some may think that is pretty expensive, but for Anthro, that is a steal! They are so beautiful!

Last night, also in preparation for Earth Day, we bought a weed Wagner to get our patio up to par for our summer parties!

This morning, while Nate was at work I cleaned the house and prepared to be outside for the remaining portion of the afternoon.

Here we are being married and enjoying Earth Day outside!

Yes, we have a swing set. No, we do not have kids!

Husband, Nate, cleaning up the patio!

All planted! They look very happy, sort of like how a girl feels when she puts on a pretty dress!

Dill for all of my salmon dishes and mint for fresh mango mojitos!

Parsley for garnishing!

Amethyst Basil! How sensational!

Now Nate and I are headed to set up our new composter and finish weeding the patio!

Have a wonderful day celebrating our EARTH!

more small touches

Since we have been home from the honeymoon, we have been trying to add details to our home to make it ours! In some recent posts, I have shown you some of the adorable wedding gifts that are proudly displayed!

I have since added a few more items that will, I hope,'brighten your day as much as they do mine

Item one on the list are ring bearer pillows from the wedding. My sister-in-law made them for the wedding as well as for decorating our master bedroom. I am loving having small items from the wedding displayed around the house!

Pardon me for having 3 pictures posted, but I am just having too much fun with these camera
apps on the iPhone!

Here is a picture of my night stand.
Im hoping to get some more fancy frames for around the house to display our wedding photos!

Something else that so easily brightens my day are TULIPS! They are such happy flowers and for $7.00 at good ole Kroger they are a steal!

Little touches

So, since we have been home from the honeymoon,'I have been trying to add small touches around the home to make it more "us"! I bought some Westie book ends that I am OBSESSED with. My parents have a Westie whom I miss dearly. His name is Dylan. When I went away to college Lindsay (my little sister) game me a stuffed animal Westie that I STILL sleep with, and yes I did bring him on the honeymoon!

I mean soooo cute, right?

Another bookshelf accessory that we added since the wedding are the bride and groom wooden cake toppers that my dad carved for me!

PERFECTION!

One of my favorite wedding gifts is this doorknob from Anthropologie from Keven Keller and his girlfriend Katie. We opened presents the night that we got home from the honeymoon and I was particularly excited about. This gift! Nate got right to work the next day and put it up. Since we don't have the biggest house, small touches like these are noticed! They make me excited about our home and a happy happy girl!

wedding inspiration

so, i am DYING to see all of the wedding pictures that Paige Ewing Photography took.

to pass the time, here are a few of my inspiration pictures!

chalkboard paint = $3.00

so, chalkboard paint is only $3.00 at JoAnn's Fabrics. such a STEAL! i copied my bestie and painted the side of our large cabinet in our kitchen. i tend to make rash decisions and when i decide to do something, i usually accomplish it within about 30 minutes. i also get frustrated when other people don't help me achieve my task at hand. this is totally not fair of me, because some people (like nate) need a few moments to process things and like to make a mental plan. i'm working on it!

here is he chalkboard cabinet that has already gotten so much use!

you have not seen the last of the chalkboard paint! we are thinking of painting it on the three sections of our door to our office/craft room!
